How Does UPNEEQ Work?

Upneeg is designed to help the muscle function of your upper eyelids to reduce sagging or drooping. [1] This FDA-approved drop (for ages 18+) helps temporarily improve the appearance of your upper eyelids and increase confidence with an easy and safe solution.

UPNEEQ targets specific receptors in the levator palpebrae superioris muscles, which control the movement of the upper eyelids. This process increases muscle contraction, allowing your eyes to stay open longer, resulting in a more alert and refreshed appearance. In addition, UPNEEQ helps to improve vision by preventing sagging or drooping eyelids from obstructing your sight, which can severely impact your life. [2]

The active ingredient in UPNEEQ is oxymetazoline HCl, an ophthalmic solution. When used in the form of eye drops, oxymetazoline HCl helps narrow the blood vessels in your eyes and reduce the amount of fluid present in them. [3]

When applied directly to the eyelids using UPNEEQ, it delivers a low dose of this medication that works to lift the upper eyelids. However, the effect of UPNEEQ is temporary, and the eye drops must be used daily for the best results. If you want a more permanent solution to lift your eyelids, Dr. Markmann is a skilled plastic surgeon and offers Eyelid Lift as part of his comprehensive aesthetic services.

What Causes Eyelid Ptosis?

UPNEEQ treats acquired ptosis when your upper eyelid droops because of weakened muscles or stretched skin. It can affect one or both eyes. It’s more frequent with age but might appear at any age and range from mild to severe.

It can also result from

  • Surgery for cataract
  • Contact lenses
  • A medical condition.

Ptosis can not only obstruct your view and make you look exhausted, but it also has the potential to decrease your self-confidence and overall well-being. This condition can significantly impact a patient’s quality of life, but there is no need to worry – UPNEEQ offers a safe and easy solution.

What are the Benefits of UPNEEQ?

UPNEEQ is a safe solution for ptosis or sagging upper eyelids that does not require invasive procedures such as surgery or injections. It works quickly to reduce the appearance of droopy eyes, helping you look more alert and refreshed with an improved level of vision. You can use UPNEEQ once a day, which is ideal for busy individuals who want an easy way to improve their appearance in the mornings.

The benefits of UPNEEQ include the following:

  • See an immediate lift to the look of your upper eyelids.
  • Enjoy marked improvement in visual acuity.
  • Benefit from an effective and safe treatment with minimal adverse side effects.
  • Get the most out of your day with a simple and convenient once-daily drop!

UPNEEQ may not be a permanent solution for ptosis, but it can instantly produce an aesthetically pleasing effect on drooping eyelids without surgical intervention. With just one drop of UPNEEQ in the affected eye, you can lift your eyelids and improve their appearance while boosting your confidence. Patients who take UPNEEQ daily report feeling more refreshed and alert, as well as an improved level of vision!

What is an Eyelid Lift?

An eyelid lift, used to treat ptosis permanently, is an innovative surgical procedure that helps improve your eyes’ appearance. During this surgery, a small incision is made in the lid’s skin, and excess fat and muscle tissue are removed from underneath. Whether on upper or lower lids (or both), you can get back those youthful-looking peepers with an eyelid lift.

While an eyelid lift requires more recovery time than UPNEEQ treatment, it offers a longer-lasting result; depending on your needs and goals, Dr. Markmann has options that suit you best.

Who is the Ideal Candidate for UPNEEQ?

UPNEEQ is exclusively meant for adults aged 18 and older who suffer from acquired ptosis. You should not use UPNEEQ if you have an eye infection, inflammation, or injury.

Call or message our scheduling coordinator today to find out if you’re a candidate for UPNEEQ. UPNEEQ is unavailable over the counter, so you must make an appointment with a provider to get your prescription.

Using UPNEEQ

UPNEEQ is simple and straightforward to use. Simply place one drop in each eye once a day, around ten minutes before you want the desired effect. If you wear contacts, remove them before using UPNEEQ. After the eyedrops are in place, sit back with your eyes closed for around a minute. Do not touch your eyes or eyelids until the drops have dried, and don’t touch the dropper to your eye.

You will see your lids lift as quickly as five minutes after application, and the full effects will show around two hours after using UPNEEQ; the drops last from six to eight hours.

If it is your first time using UPNEEQ, Dr. Markmann may have you test the drop on a patch of skin like your forearm for an allergy assessment. He will suggest a different treatment method if any redness, swelling, or other irritation occurs. To ensure the best possible results, be sure to follow Dr. Markmann’s instructions for use closely. Remember only to use each UPNEEQ vial once and discard it immediately upon completion.
