A Warning About “Cosmetic” Surgeons

Be Very Cautious Where You Travel for Plastic Surgery!

Miami Florida for example, has been in the news numerous times recently due to plastic surgery gone wrong. Surgery there is generally “cheap” compared to other areas of the Country. Florida and certain Caribbean destinations where surgery is also very cheap have become hot spots for cheap plastic surgery, and sometimes it’s not even performed by a plastic surgeon.

Another issue in Florida is that Florida does not require doctors to have malpractice insurance. Therefore, when unfortunate patients have complications or die, even if it is clearly due to the surgeon’s negligence, if they don’t have malpractice, you will likely get no compensation! You may think, “I’ll just sue him/her for all their personal possessions. I’ll take his cars, his house, his everything!” Well, they’ve thought of that too. They put everything in their spouse’s name! They own NOTHING! There is nothing to take!

Many of these places are like a puppy mill. Get them in and get them out as quickly as you can. And as many as you can. For example, the Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL), they typically do the whole procedure in 2-3 hours. This is a procedure that many respected plastic surgeons take 6-8 hours to complete. What’s the difference? Quality, safety, and possibly your life. Be safe. It you can’t afford it, don’t do it. It’s not worth risking your life over.

Also, do your research! Would you want your family doc or Ob-Gyn doing your liposuction, facelift or BBL? Well, if you are being treated by a “Cosmetic Surgeon”, you just may be!
